A 105-year-old man died when his mobility scooter was involved in a crash in Uckfield.

The man had been crossing the B2102 Bell Farm Road, east of the junction with Brookside, when he was struck by a blue Ford Ka being driven by an 87-year-old woman, Sussex Police said.

The force said the man, from Uckfield, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which happened at about 13:45 BST on Saturday.

A section of the road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene.

The Ford driver was uninjured, and officers said they have launched an investigation into the crash.

The deceased man's next of kin have been informed.
